COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

Benia Jennings

Service Overview

Welcome to the Communication Department, one of the key drivers of the Southeastern Conference’s mission-driven initiative. The main focus of this initiative is to “reach communities within our territory with a Christ-centered message of hope and wholeness.” This department plays an important role in achieving this mission by sharing information with the members about the work that God is doing within the Southeastern Conference territory. We share our stories through various avenues of communication: conference website, social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) and publications. The department serves as a resource for our departmental directors and support staff, our pastors, our schools and local churches. We also provide support to the local churches throughout the conference territory in the areas of strategic communication, crisis communication and public relations.

Another important function of the Communication Department is the publication of the Sentinel Magazine. “The great object of our publication is to exalt God, to call men’s attention to the living truths of His word.” (E. G. White, Counsels to Writers and Editors). The SEC Communication Department is also a contributor to Southern Tidings (a monthly publication of the Southern Union) and the Adventist Review (the official publication of the General Conference).

As E. G. White also states: “…God’s message to the world is to be given with such prominence and power that the people will be brought face to face, mind to mind, heart to heart, with truth.” This is our goal and our mission in this department.
