On Sunday, March 26, 2006, the Southeastern Conference Executive Committee appointed Gwendolyn Turner Parker to serve as the 5th treasurer of Southeastern. She has been serving as interim treasurer since July 1, 2005 when Stanton Reed resigned. Gwendolyn has served the Southeastern Conference as associate treasurer since 1988.  Prior to joining the Southeastern Conference, Gwendolyn served as the associate treasurer of the Northeastern Conference.

Gwendolyn is the first female appointed to serve as a conference treasurer in the 105 year history of the Southern Union. The Southern Union is composed of the following 8 conferences:  Carolina, Florida, Georgia-Cumberland, Gulf States, Kentucky-Tennessee, South Atlantic, South Central and Southeastern. The committee also selected delegates for the Southern Union Constituency Session (September 10 – 11, 2006) and the Oakwood College Constituency Session (April 29 – 30, 2006).
