It was a beautiful and sunny day, when the Salem Seventh-Day Adventist Church celebrated its Sabbath School Community Guest Day, on November 5, 2005. We considered this a miracle since two weeks before, we had experienced the deadly wrath of Hurricane Wilma, a category two (2) hurricane, which had left South Florida devastated and many of our members without electricity or water.
The day began with our Sabbath School program conducted by the Youth of Salem, under the direction of Renetta Subani, the Acting Sabbath School Superintendent. We felt the presence of the Holy Spirit, and our hearts were blessed as we watched them utilize their God-given talents.

During the Divine Hour Program, we took the time to honor one of the members of our community, E. Pat Larkins, City Commissioner District Four. He was presented with a plaque and a copy of the book Desire of Ages. The members of Salem expressed their gratitude to him, for his thirty years of service to the City of Pompano Beach and the Broward County communities.
We were then looking forward to the highlight of the days program the message from our Divine Hour speaker, Gordon L. Retzer, President of the Southern Union Conference. He presented to us a very timely message based on Revelation 7 and entitled, Through Great Tribulation. Elder and Mrs. Retzer later joined us for a fellowship lunch, and afterwards, met with the Sabbath School Department to remind them of the mission of the church. He left us with much to think about, and we thank God for his many blessings during this spirit-filled day!
