Nineteen twenty-nine was a memorable year. It was the year the Stock Market crashed, the Vatican City, the smallest nation in the world, became an enclave of Rome. It was the year that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born but it was also the year Mary Cutting came into this world. Mary Cutting was born in Nevis on March 20, 1929. She is the first child of Ann Tyson. She has two brothers George and Carlton. The family relocated in St. Kitts when Mary was thirteen years old. She attended St. Village Girls School.

Mary was always a God fearing young lady. One night she had a direct call from the Lord, she prayed and the Lord led her to the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Her neighbor invited her to church. That night, at the age of 16, she gave her heart to the Lord. She has been an Adventist ever since. Because of her diligence and commitment to the Lord, soon her mother and two brothers were also baptized. In St. Kitts she attended the Bassateiie Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Things were hard in St. Kitts so to find a better way of life Mary migrated to Aruba in 1945. There she met and married Cecil Cutting in 1950. Three years later they migrated to Barbados in search of jobs. Many exciting things happened to Mary in Barbados. She has always been a devote Christian, finding time to balance between working as a nurses' assistant, singing in the choir, church work, and raising a family. The union produced two girls Celia and Olivia. Her desire to spread the word resulted in her starting a Branch Sabbath School in Barbados.

Wanting to make a better life for her children she migrated to Miami in 1980. In 1981, at its inception, she joined the Perrine Seventh-day Adventist Church and has been a faithful member ever since. Over time Mary has worked in several areas of the church, these include Sabbath School Division leader, Sabbath School Division teacher, Assistant M.V. Leader, Sabbath School secretary and deaconess. She loves to sing and has always sung in the choir.

Her three grandchildren, Donny, Ian, and Samantha, are the joy of her life. Her hobbies are telling stories about Jesus. She likes to talk about the Lord. Her advice to the young people is to always trust in the Lord. Pray without ceasing because the Lord will always answer their prayers. "They have nothing to fear unless they forget God." Her favorite song is "How Cheering is The Christian Hope."
