Robert Patterson, Jr. is the firstborn son of the late Robert Patterson, Sr (former Treasurer of SEC) and Barbara J. Patterson. He is a product of Seventh-day Adventist Christian education from first grade through college. He is a proud graduate of Oakwood College (now University) in Huntsville, AL, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. He also holds a Masters of Business Administration from Alvernia University in Reading, PA. As a pastor’s kid, he has lived in several cities, states and countries. He has also served as a missionary in Africa for three and a half years, while his parents served the Central African Union based in Burundi. Elder Patterson also attended Maxwell Adventist Academy in Kenya.
He loves young people and was an active and involved community member for the students at Pine Forge Academy for two decades. At Pine Forge Academy, he served as a coach for the basketball and tennis teams, class sponsor and also taught Accounting; not to mention feeding the students, who were regulars at his home for Sabbath dinners. Active in his local church, he has served as an Elder, Treasurer, Stewardship Leader, Finance Committee Chairman, AY Leader, and his favorite, Sabbath School class facilitator.
After working 22 years as Auditor, Assistant Treasurer and Under Treasurer for the Allegheny East Conference, God called him and the constituents elected him to come to SEC to serve as Chief Financial Officer.
He has been married for 26 years to Carmen and they have two young adult children, Robert III and Reyna. In his rare spare time, Elder Patterson enjoys golf, tennis, watching sports, listening to music and quality time with family and friends.
He lives by the words, “if I can help somebody, as I pass along, then my living will not be in vain.”
